Senior DevOps Engineer – Linux, DataStage Operations & Oracle Exadata

Mission

Enable a secure, stable and reliable Data Platform by operating and continuously improving Linux, Oracleand Data Lake services. You will have visible impact on business-critical data flows by strengthening availability, security posture and operational excellence, while modernizing the platform through automation, standardization and cloud-readiness initiatives.

The role offers broad hands-on exposure across infrastructure, databases, ETL services, reliability engineering and CI/CD in a mission-critical environment, with close collaboration across development, security, senior DBA and platform teams.

Your day to day

• Ensure the stability, availability and performance of Data Lake and Data Warehouse platforms across production and non-production environments.

• Investigate incidents, support major-incident recovery, perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring issues.

• Manage Red Hat Linux environments and supporting infrastructure, including environment provisioning, maintenance and decommissioning; operating-system patching and lifecycle activities; capacity management across storage, CPU and memory; certificate renewals; platform connectivity, firewall-related activities and infrastructure integrations; and vulnerability remediation.

• Perform operational Oracle administration on Exadata, including database monitoring and health validation, alert and performance-degradation investigation, tablespace management, user and schema administration, backup-status and recovery-readiness checks, SQL investigations and analysis of existing data structures, and Data Pump schema refreshes while maintaining data consistency.

• Collaborate with senior DBAs on RMAN, AWR interpretation, complex performance tuning, deployments and other advanced database operations.

• Administer and support IBM DataStage services and ETL platform operations; troubleshoot jobs, platform components and operational failures; assist development teams with deployments and troubleshooting; support releases across production and non-production environments; and contribute to platform upgrades, feature deployments and maintenance activities.

• Develop and maintain operational automation using Shell and, where appropriate, Python; eliminate repetitive tasks through process improvement; and design, develop and optimize secure, reliableCI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps for application and data-platform releases.

• Improve monitoring, alerting and operational observability with Grafana; participate in infrastructure upgrades and MDPL/GCP modernization; and create, maintain and continuously improve operational procedures, runbooks and support documentation.

• Create, review and implement ServiceNow changes; participate in Incident, Major Incident, Problem and Change Management; produce clear root-cause analyses, track corrective actions, and support audit, compliance, risk and security activities while driving continuous improvement across platform services and support processes.

What you bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

• At least five years of experience in DevOps, platform operations, infrastructure engineering or production support.

• Strong Red Hat Linux administration and experience supporting mission-critical production systems.

• IBM DataStage administration and troubleshooting experience, plus strong Shell scripting skills.

• Monitoring and observability experience, preferably with Grafana; incident management, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis experience; and ServiceNow or comparable IT service-management experience.

• Experience designing, maintaining and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps.

• Strong command of standardization, engineering best practices and Reliability Engineering principles, with focus on availability, resilience, observability and continuous improvement.

• Experience administering mission-critical Oracle environments on Exadata, including operationalDBA activities and strong SQL investigation skills; advanced query optimization is not required.

• Nice to have: Python automation, Terraform, GCP, Infrastructure as Code, large-scale Data Lake or Data Warehouse operations, vulnerability remediation, Agile/DevOps delivery, AI-assisted engineering tools and cloud migration experience.
